Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Striker (ranked 24807 p4p, 546 weight class) and Uraya Berrio (ranked 23981 p4p, 539 weight class). Ken Striker could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Uraya Berrio's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ken Striker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Uraya Berrio! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Berrio feints a jab promting Striker to slip. Berrio then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Striker slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like Ken Striker has been cut. Berrio lands a head kick!
Striker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Berrio is trying to get back to full guard. Striker scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Striker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Berrio wants to control but Striker passes into side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berrio tries to buck Striker off but Striker is having none of it. Striker is chipping away with strikes.
Berrio is looking to regain half guard here but Striker keeps moving and retains side control. Striker just content to control the position. Striker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Striker tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Striker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Striker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Striker content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Striker is chipping away with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Striker cracks Berrio with an elbow. That is naaassty. Striker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Berrio seems a little lost for a moment, as Striker dominates the positioning. Berrio is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Striker asserts his dominance and retains side control. Striker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Striker is working Berrio over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Berrio can't do much from the bottom here. Striker wants to stand but Berrio has his arm trapped. Berrio manages to get back to half guard. Berrio is looking for a sweep. Striker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Berrio moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Striker passes Berrio's right leg, so he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Striker shoots in for a takedown but Berrio shows good takedown defense. Berrio has Striker up against the cage in a clinch.
Striker lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Berrio's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Striker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Berrio scores with a takedown into Striker's guard. Striker managing to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Berrio pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Striker is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berrio is fighting to break Striker's control of his arms but Striker is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Berrio wants to control from the top but Striker keeps moving. Berrio is looking to stand up but Striker won't let him. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Berrio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Berrio trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Striker keeping moving, preventing Berrio from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Berrio throws a right and a left that Striker avoids nicely. As Berrio tries to get set, Striker tries to push him back and clinch up but Berrio manages to avoid the attempt. Berrio keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Striker fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Berrio to the ground. Striker is now in Berrio's guard. Berrio wants to sweep here but Striker controlling him for the moment. Berrio can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Striker controls the pace. Striker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Berrio for as long as he can get away with. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Striker would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berrio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Striker pushes down on Berrio's leg and manages to get into half guard. Striker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Striker connects with a nice short shot to Berrio's temple.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Striker seems to be looking for submissions.

Striker passes the guard and advances to mount! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Striker working for a guillotine from mount but Berrio is in no mood to give up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Berrio throws a counter combo. Striker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Berrio tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Striker manages to move to mount!
Striker content just to control the position here. This is a sustained period of stalling by Striker. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Striker scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Berrio?

That's one minute gone in the round. Berrio is looking to get to half guard. Striker has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Berrio's face.
Striker looking to control and managing it successfully. Striker is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Berrio has managed to escape the submission attempt.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Striker here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. You get the feeling that Berrio really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Berrio tries to get back to half guard but can't. Berrio taking shots to the head. Berrio reaches up to try and control the position but Striker seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Berrio rolls and tries to escape and now Striker has his back!
Ken Striker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Striker is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Berrio knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Berrio for a finish. Striker working for the choke. Striker controlling the position well here. Berrio rolled but Striker kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Striker looking for the choke but no joy. Striker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Berrio can do to turn this around? Berrio breaks Striker's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
