Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michel Pereira (ranked 699 p4p, 94 weight class) and Luke Neil (ranked 782 p4p, 106 weight class). Pereira's entrance music is J.Balvin, Willy William - Mi Gente. A fine choice. Neil has chosen Linkin Park - In the end as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michel Pereira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luke Neil!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pereira slips a straight right by Neil.

Neil looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pereira!
Neil is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Neil is trying to get an arm triangle but Pereira is defending well.
Neil trying to control the action but Pereira is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pereira tries to bench press Neil off him but Neil keeps the position.
Neil is working Pereira over with some ground and pound from side control.

Neil is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pereira has escaped the position, nice work there.
Neil misses with the ground and pound.
Neil tries to advance to mount but Pereira denies him.
Neil wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pereira keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pereira is trying to control Neil's posture but Neil avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Neil advances nicely into full mount.
Pereira wants to hold on but Neil pushes him away.
Neil thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Pereira is staying active underneath Neil, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pereira is trying to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Neil throws a good cross that connects.

Neil tries to bum rush Pereira with a series of wild strikes but Pereira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Neil decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pereira is trying to stand up here but Neil is controlling him well.
Neil is keen to just control but Pereira is a slippery customer.
Pereira pushes Neil off looking to stand but Neil dives back in and keeps control.
Pereira holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Neil is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Pereira reverses the position - he's now on top in Neil's guard.
Neil wants to stand but Pereira is controlling the position.
Neil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pereira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pereira drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pereira jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neil wants to improve his position but Pereira is controlling well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Neil is looking to control Pereira's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Neil avoid being mounted?
Neil has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pereira looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Neil can do anything to dispel that myth.
Neil is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Luke Neil is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pereira lands a head kick!

Pereira takes one to the side of the head.
Pereira checks a leg kick.
An inside leg kick from Neil misses.
Neil has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Pereira rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Neil moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pereira fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Pereira connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Pereira walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Pereira throws a head kick that Neil semi-blocks.


It looks like Luke Neil has been cut.
Pereira throws a nice outside leg kick.
Neil missing with a left hand there. Pereira was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
As Neil backs away, Pereira returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Pereira avoids a kick to the body.
Neil misses with a double jab.
Pereira moves away from the strike by Neil.

Neil shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Neil showed some decent athleticism there.

Pereira manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Neil keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pereira scores with a knee to the head.
Neil is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pereira is defending well.
Neil jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pereira walks away with a smile on his face. Neil gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Pereira counters with a nice leg kick.
Neil steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Pereira. That one must have hurt.

Neil fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Michel Pereira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Neil.
Pereira pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Neil jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Neil takes a swing at Pereira's ribcage but misses.
Neil takes one to the side of the head.
Pereira attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Neil tries to bum rush Pereira with a series of wild strikes but Pereira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Neil sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

It seemed like Neil was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Neil goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Neil has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Neil there as he acknowledges the shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Neil counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Neil throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pereira tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Neil is in Pereira's guard.

Pereira has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Neil off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Pereira fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Neil manages to avoid it.
Pereira backing away here, and Neil unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Pereira uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Neil.
Neil throws a series of punches but Pereira avoids them all with ease.

Pereira fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Neil looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Neil feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Pereira pushes Neil off and scrambles back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Neil crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Pereira - the referee stops the clock and Neil gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Pereira. Neil manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Donk. Pereira catches Neil right on the button with a cross.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Neil swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Neil throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pereira's waist but Pereira gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Neil off to one side.

Pereira moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Neil is defended easily by Pereira.
Neil shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Neil comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Pereira counters with an outside leg kick.
Neil's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Neil has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pereira.
Neil avoids a punch combination nicely.
Despite the aggression on Neil's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Neil looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pereira is fending him off so far but Neil persists. Nope, Pereira circles away and we're back to standing.
Neil shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Pereira lands a high kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pereira stuffs the takedown.
Pereira jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Neil ducks under a wild hook from Pereira.
Pereira works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Pereira throws a leg kick which misses Neil's front leg but catches the back leg as Neil tries to avoid it.
Pereira throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Neil on the side of the head.
Pereira stuffs the takedown.
Neil throws a leg kick but Pereira moved away.
Pereira lands with a slapping head kick.
Neil blocks a head kick by Pereira.
Pereira throws a head kick that half lands.
Pereira steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Neil.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Pereira has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
