PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Anatpong (ranked 3072 p4p, 0 weight class) and Najmeddine Mohammed Al Haddad (ranked 3766 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Anatpong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Najmeddine Mohammed Al Haddad!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anatpong gets tackled into the cage by Al Haddad. Al Haddad maintains the clinch.

Al Haddad manages to pull guard.
Al Haddad is controlling Anatpong's posture.
Let's hope that Al Haddad has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Anatpong trying to control but Al Haddad is working from the bottom.

Al Haddad has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Anatpong has passed into side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Anatpong is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Anatpong is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Al Haddad has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Al Haddad misses with a two punch combination.
Anatpong misses with a takedown attempt - Al Haddad sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Al Haddad dives in and grabs Anatpong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Anatpong pushes down on Al Haddad's head and hops out.
It looked like Anatpong was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Al Haddad.
Anatpong shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Al Haddad but Al Haddad pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Al Haddad swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Al Haddad darts in and clinches Anatpong up against the cage.

Al Haddad ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Al Haddad no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anatpong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Anatpong is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Al Haddad knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Al Haddad for a finish.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Al Haddad has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Anatpong is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Anatpong misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Al Haddad fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Anatpong avoids it really well and circles away.

Marcus Anatpong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Najmeddine Mohammed Al Haddad.
Anatpong moves in looking to clinch but Al Haddad pushes him off.
