PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leo Vuce (ranked 6056 p4p, 460 weight class) and Snake Rex (ranked 3257 p4p, 305 weight class). Rex has chosen A Tribe Called Kotori as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leo Vuce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Snake Rex!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vuce closes the distance and clinches.

Rex pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vuce tries to clinch up but Rex circles away and keeps his distance.
Vuce really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vuce takes the fight into the clinch.
Rex blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Vuce tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Vuce misses with some punches.
A head punch on the inside from Vuce fails to land.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Vuce as Rex tries to tie him up.

Rex has picked Vuce up - he's going for a ride! Rex dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Vuce tries to get to full guard but Rex has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rex looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vuce with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vuce wants to improve his position but Rex is controlling well.
Vuce slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Vuce trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rex landing some decent shots from guard.
Vuce definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Rex has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rex wants to control from the top but Vuce keeps moving.
Vuce striking off his back but it's not causing Rex any problems.
Rex is in close to Vuce's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Vuce will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Vuce has momentary wrist control but Rex slips an elbow through the middle.

Vuce throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rex is stalling in the full guard.
Rex postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rex postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Rex showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Rex with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Vuce tries to strike from the bottom.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rex's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Vuce bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rex's guard.

Vuce distracts Rex with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rex wants to sweep here but Vuce controlling him for the moment.
Rex utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vuce postures up.
Vuce missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Vuce stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Rex has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Vuce manages to get his head free but now Rex has transitioned to an armbar! Vuce grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Rex! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Snake Rex!
After winning the bout, Snake Rex thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
