Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ikeda Toshiyuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sabotage Rex! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Toshiyuki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rex uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Sabotage Rex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Toshiyuki has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rex finds it's way round the side to connect with Toshiyuki's head. Toshiyuki gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A big left from Toshiyuki misses. A big left from Rex misses. Rex misses with a wild body shot. Toshiyuki tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rex was well out of range. Poor timing from Toshiyuki. Rex thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Toshiyuki if he has to take too many more of those.
Rex lands with a nice body kick. A big left from Toshiyuki misses. Rex throws a big shot that misses. Rex avoids the head kick by Toshiyuki.
Rex gets off balance looking for a body kick and Toshiyuki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. We've been hearing good reports from Toshiyuki's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Toshiyuki looking to pass the guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Rex manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Rex is pressing down on Toshiyuki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Toshiyuki passes into half guard. Toshiyuki performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Toshiyuki is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rex is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ikeda Toshiyuki! A relieved looking Ikeda Toshiyuki thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
