Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rasheed Al Malik (ranked 23862 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Emelyanov (ranked 4439 p4p, 0 weight class). Rasheed Al Malik has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rasheed Al Malik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladimir Emelyanov!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelyanov goes for a double leg but Al Malik avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Al Malik continues to drive forward.
Emelyanov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Emelyanov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Al Malik pinned against the cage. Al Malik gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Emelyanov throws a body punch but Al Malik moves out of range.
Emelyanov throws a left and a right that both miss
and Al Malik counters with a stiff right hand.
Emelyanov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rasheed Al Malik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Emelyanov.

Emelyanov closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Al Malik is trying to push Emelyanov away but Emelyanov has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Al Malik is looking to break free of the clinch but Emelyanov has double underhooks.

Emelyanov dives in and grabs Al Malik's left leg, looking for a takedown. Al Malik pushes down on Emelyanov's head and hops out.

Al Malik walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Emelyanov checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Emelyanov working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Al Malik has passed into half guard!
Emelyanov has a hand on Al Malik's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Al Malik takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Emelyanov is trying to stand but he's just given Al Malik his back.

Al Malik has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Emelyanov has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Al Malik is trying to control but Emelyanov is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Emelyanov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Emelyanov.
Al Malik has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Emelyanov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Al Malik tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Emelyanov smiles and moves away.
Al Malik closes this distance looking for a takedown but Emelyanov circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rasheed Al Malik. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Emelyanov has Al Malik pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Al Malik manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Emelyanov takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Al Malik jumps guard.

Al Malik is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Emelyanov is aware though and is defending well.

Vladimir Emelyanov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown attempt by Emelyanov or perhaps it was just good defense by Al Malik, which made it look bad.
No joy there for Al Malik, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Al Malik will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Emelyanov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Al Malik uses from the top position.

Emelyanov pushes Al Malik away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Al Malik gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emelyanov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Al Malik shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Emelyanov as he avoids it easily.
Emelyanov dives in and grabs Al Malik's left leg, looking for a takedown. Al Malik pushes down on Emelyanov's head and hops out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Al Malik counters with a three punch combo that has Emelyanov backing up. Emelyanov nods at Al Malik to acknowledge the strikes.

Emelyanov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Al Malik to the mat! Al Malik manages to get full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Emelyanov stands up from Al Malik's guard - Emelyanov perhaps looking for a knockout.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vladimir Emelyanov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Emelyanov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
