Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gu Chan Sung! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gerald Wallace! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wallace fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Chan Sung has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Wallace misses with a leg kick and Chan Sung counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Chan Sung trying to control the pace. Chan Sung is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Wallace still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Wallace has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Chan Sung is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chan Sung gets back to half guard. Chan Sung holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace stops Chan Sung from getting back to his feet.
Chan Sung makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Wallace looks winded! Wallace shoots and misses and Chan Sung counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Chan Sung works his way into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chan Sung throwing strikes here but Wallace is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Chan Sung gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Chan Sung looking to score a takedown here. Wallace is defending well but Chan Sung drives through and ends up in Wallace's guard. Chan Sung has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chan Sung is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Chan Sung wants to control from the top but Wallace keeps moving. Chan Sung showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Chan Sung has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chan Sung pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wallace is keeping the position for now. Chan Sung content to stall in guard here. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Chan Sung gets to his feet. Wallace looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Chan Sung shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chan Sung showed some decent athleticism there. Wallace is looking to get back to is feet but Chan Sung passes into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chan Sung controlling from side mount. Chan Sung decides to stand back up. Chan Sung rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wallace moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Chan Sung drives through with a takedown into guard. Wallace is looking to stand back up but Chan Sung counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Wallace.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chan Sung takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gu Chan Sung dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Chan Sung closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wallace's guard. Chan Sung sitting in guard here, content to control. Chan Sung chips away with some ground and pound. Chan Sung stays in close to Wallace's body and controls the position. Wallace avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wallace keeping moving, preventing Chan Sung from controlling successfully. Wallace is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chan Sung is looking to pass into half guard but Wallace pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Wallace is in guard. Wallace stopping the sweep attempt from Chan Sung. Chan Sung had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wallace defends it easily. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chan Sung holds on and takes a little breather.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Chan Sung lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Chan Sung is looking to work some ground and pound but Wallace has wrist control. We've been informed that Wallace has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Chan Sung controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chan Sung gets to his feet - Wallace follows without any prompting. Chan Sung lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Chan Sung circles away from the clinch attempt and Chan Sung counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wallace! Chan Sung misses with the ground and pound. Chan Sung tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chan Sung wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wallace, who protects the arm well. Chan Sung is trying to get an arm triangle but Wallace is defending well. Chan Sung slows the pace down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gu Chan Sung dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Wallace lands a front kick. Chan Sung scores with a head kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Chan Sung. Wallace wants to clinch and Chan Sung counters with a left and a right that stings Wallace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chan Sung throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Wallace. Wallace moves in looking to clinch but Chan Sung pushes him off. Wallace takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wallace moves to clinch but Chan Sung breaks away and Chan Sung counters with a two punch combo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Chan Sung counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Chan Sung lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. No joy there for Chan Sung, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wallace shoots in and drives through. Chan Sung sprawls well. Chan Sung lands a nice looking body kick. Wallace gets caught napping as Chan Sung dives in and scores a takedown. Wallace manages to retain guard. Chan Sung stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallace swivels though and keeps the full guard. Chan Sung pushes down on Wallace's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wallace won't allow Chan Sung to pass to mount. Chan Sung throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chan Sung thows a huge punch but Wallace dodges it nicely.
Chan Sung seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chan Sung working over Wallace with some ground and pound. Wallace looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Chan Sung trying to control the pace. Chan Sung postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Wallace to stand up. Wallace moves to clinch but Chan Sung breaks away and Chan Sung counters with a nice double leg into guard. Chan Sung decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Wallace, up you get!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chan Sung gets a double leg takedown into Wallace's guard. Chan Sung is standing up over Wallace. Wallace looks to escape but Chan Sung dives into side control.
Chan Sung sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Wallace is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Chan Sung is chipping away with strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Chan Sung taking a breather here. Chan Sung throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Gu Chan Sung showed his dominance in that final round. Well Chan Sung has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
