Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Hume (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Desmond Hume!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Williams!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hume drives through with a takedown into guard.
Williams wants to stand up but Hume is controlling him.
Hume is looking to work some ground and pound but Williams has wrist control.
Hume missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hume has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hume won't allow Williams to sweep him here.
Hume postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hume is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hume accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams wants to sweep but no luck.

Hume stands up over Williams, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Williams pulls Hume in to control the position.

Hume knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground.

Williams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hume's guard.

Hume is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Williams dives into side control.
Hume is breathing heavily.

Hume is wriggling around trying to escape.
You get the feeling that Hume really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hume wants to hold on but Williams pushes him away.
Williams with shots to the head and body - Hume looks very uncomfortable down there.
Williams fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hume tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hume is in a horrible position here. Williams smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Hume tries to improve his position but instead Williams has taken his back!
Hume has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Williams working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Hume holding both Williams 's hands and preventing any damage.

Williams punishes Hume with strikes from the back mount.
Hume breaks Williams's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hume accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Williams utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Williams wriggles free and stands up.
Williams wants to clinch up but Hume keeps it at a distance.
Hume is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Hume looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Williams dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Hume gets the takedown into side control.
Hume fails to land a wild elbow strike.
You can see the frustration on Williams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hume tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Williams sneaks out the side door and pushes Hume away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Hume counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Williams is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hume's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Hume thows a huge punch but Williams dodges it nicely.

Hume is nestled in close to Williams, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Williams wants to control but Hume is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hume is looking to advance position but Williams has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Hume is in all sorts of trouble here.
Williams blocks Hume's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

and Hume counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Williams is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hume wants to pass the guard but Williams is keeping the position.

Hume cracks Williams with a solid left hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hume drives through and clinches with Williams against the cage.
Hume can't get the takedown.

Williams gets control of Hume's arms and successfully pulls guard. Williams will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hume lands a couple of elbows.
Williams has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hume wants to stand and escape but instead Williams has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hume is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hume on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hume tries to get out of the position.
Hume wants to control but Williams passes easily into half guard.
Williams is thwarting Hume's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Williams has his takedown stuffed

and Hume counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Williams has momentary wrist control but Hume slips an elbow through the middle.
Williams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Williams is pulling down on Hume's head to control his posture.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hume lands a nice short elbow.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hume connects with a nice short shot to Williams's temple.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Williams lands with a right hand.
Mike Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Hume counters with a single leg into guard. Williams didn't expect that.
Desmond Hume has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Williams.

Hume throws and elbow that misses. Williams uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hume's guard. Nice move by Williams!
