Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Saber (ranked 4393 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Jones (ranked 4452 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Some wild striking there from Saber.
Saber lands with a cross.
Decent striking displayed by Saber there.
Saber clobbers Jones with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Saber thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Saber looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Saber throws a jab when Jones was well out of range.
Saber stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Saber thuds his right hand into Jones's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Saber.
Saber looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
Donk. Saber catches Jones right on the button with a cross.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saber's waist but Saber gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Saber went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hugh Saber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Jones.

A little feinted left hand from Saber on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Jones is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Saber to keep the fight standing.
Saber blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Saber after a bit of a struggle.
Jones is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Saber is defending well.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Saber cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Saber is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Jones takes one to the chin there.

Saber throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Saber is looking to counter punch.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Saber tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Saber to the ground. Saber escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Saber.

Saber misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.

Saber stuns Jones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jones slips a straight right by Saber.
Jones walks into a left hand.
Saber fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Saber lands with a hook. Jones tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Saber finish him?

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jones seems to have recovered his senses.
Ray Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Saber throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Jones drives through and clinches with Saber against the cage.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones dives in and grabs Saber's left leg, looking for a takedown. Saber pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Jones needs to keep his hands up - Saber had a free shot at his head there.
Saber misses with a straight left.
Jones looks for a takedown but Saber sprawls well.
Jones moves out of range of the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Saber. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Jones throws an elbow but misses.
