PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Snitch (ranked 2342 p4p, 292 weight class) and Joseph Telushikin (ranked 2243 p4p, 279 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Snitch might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I Wanna Rock. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Snitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Telushikin!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snitch moves into the clinch.
Snitch has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Telushikin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Telushikin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Snitch gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Telushikin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Snitch fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Snitch tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Telushikin defends well and Snitch ends up having to push Telushikin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Telushikin lands a jab to the nose.

Snitch looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Telushikin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Snitch tries to bum rush Telushikin with a series of wild strikes but Telushikin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Snitch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Telushikin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snitch lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Telushikin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Telushikin takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Jon Snitch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph Telushikin.

Nice straight punches there by Snitch. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Snitch.
Snitch shoots in and drives through. Telushikin sprawls well.
Telushikin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Snitch manages to avoid it.
Telushikin circles away from the clinch attempt.

Telushikin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Snitch.

Telushikin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Snitch was well out of range. Poor timing from Telushikin.
Telushikin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Snitch sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Telushikin somewhat.

Snitch has a takedown stuffed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Snitch takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Snitch tries to buck Telushikin off but Telushikin is having none of it.
Telushikin is looking to take a break and control but Snitch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Snitch dodges the ground and pound from Telushikin.
Snitch manages to work his way to half guard, despite Telushikin's best efforts.
Snitch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Snitch has his hands clasped together around Telushikin's back. He's all about the action.
Snitch wants to improve his position but Telushikin is controlling well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Snitch is trying is best to control the position here.

Telushikin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Snitch doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Telushikin.

Joseph Telushikin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Telushikin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Snitch.
I think Telushikin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
