Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexei Odintsov (ranked 3983 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell McCullough (ranked 3318 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexei Odintsov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexei Odintsov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Russell McCullough! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Odintsov ducks right into an uppercut from McCullough.
Odintsov has managed to clinch.
Odintsov content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Odintsov tries for a takedown but McCullough manages to get underhooks.
Odintsov pulls guard. McCullough postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Odintsov is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Odintsov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. McCullough throws a strike but Odintsov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
 McCullough really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Odintsov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Odintsov stands and throws McCullough's legs to the side, diving into side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Odintsov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McCullough knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Odintsov throws a big counter combination but McCullough scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. A combination from McCullough does no damage. McCullough looks winded! Odintsov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McCullough pinned against the cage. McCullough gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Odintsov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McCullough avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexei Odintsov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McCullough is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Odintsov presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. McCullough wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Odintsov slowing the pace effectively. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Odintsov has McCullough pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McCullough manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. McCullough wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Odintsov has him pressed against the cage. Odintsov misses with a body punch.

McCullough looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Odintsov tries to counter by clinching up but McCullough breaks away and moves out of range. McCullough throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Odintsov counters by moving into the clinch. Odintsov lands an elbow inside that McCullough shrugs off.
Odintsov ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Odintsov no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Odintsov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. McCullough wants to get up but he can't break Odintsov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Odintsov throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
McCullough must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Odintsov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Odintsov is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. McCullough stuffs the takedown. Odintsov blocks a head kick by McCullough.

McCullough tries to bum rush Odintsov with a series of wild strikes but Odintsov uses good footwork to avoid the assault. McCullough throws a right and a left that Odintsov avoids nicely. They are putting on a show! Odintsov misses with a few strikes there.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McCullough tries to break free but Odintsov pushes him back against the cage. Odintsov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McCullough is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

McCullough decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Odintsov, up you get! McCullough throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Odintsov's head. McCullough throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
Russell McCullough showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Odintsov counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A frustrated look appears on McCullough's face as he tries to break the clinch. McCullough wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Odintsov is pushing McCullough up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. McCullough tries to break the clinch but Odintsov is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Odintsov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McCullough uses from the top position. Odintsov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Odintsov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCullough can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. McCullough trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McCullough loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Odintsov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Odintsov is taking a breather. McCullough says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. McCullough felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alexei Odintsov. I think Odintsov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
