Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alejandro Lozano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hamza Showaikh!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lozano connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Showaikh shoots in looking for a takedown. Lozano tries to sprawl out of it but Showaikh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lozano manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Showaikh manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lozano on his heels. He'll look to pass Lozano's guard now, I'm sure.
Showaikh scoring with some ground and pound.
Lozano is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Showaikh is controlling him.
Showaikh is working Lozano over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Showaikh landing some decent shots from guard.
Showaikh drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Showaikh jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lozano uses the cage to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Showaikh drives through with a takedown into guard.
Showaikh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Showaikh lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Showaikh postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Showaikh makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lozano is rocked!
Showaikh content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Oh Lozano is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Showaikh pushes down on Lozano's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Showaikh is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Lozano is hurt! He's hurt bad - Showaikh fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Lozano from any more punishment! Congratulations to Showaikh! Great finish!
