Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vice Grips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Minh Nguyen!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen looks to land a right hand but Grips moved out of range.
Grips tries to clinch up but Nguyen circles away and keeps his distance.
Nguyen tries a head kick but it misses.
Nguyen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nguyen is looking to break free of the clinch but Grips has double underhooks.
Nguyen is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Grips connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Minh Nguyen has been cut.
Grips pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Grips looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Grips swats away the attempt to clinch by Nguyen.
Grips throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Grips tries to clinch there but Nguyen circles away.
A head kick lands from Grips that sends Nguyen to the canvas. Nguyen tries to scramble back to his feet but Grips brings him back down into side control.
Nguyen is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grips stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Nguyen is still on wobbly legs! Can Grips finish him?
Nguyen drops his hands momentarily and Grips needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Nguyen just on the top of the head. Nguyen drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Nguyen - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Vice Grips!
