PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Jackson (ranked 1702 p4p, 234 weight class) and Fred Lowry (ranked 2033 p4p, 266 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Puff Daddy-Victory (ft. Notorious B.I.G & Busta Rhymes). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jordan Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Lowry!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Lowry does no damage.
Lowry throws a nice looking combination but Jackson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lowry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jackson moves away.
Jordan Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson throws out a powerful jab.
Jackson connects with a body shot.

Lowry rushes Jackson and presses him up against the cage.
Lowry tries to throw a body punch but Jackson avoids it by throwing Lowry back against the cage.
Lowry throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lowry comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Jackson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lowry gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Jackson has Lowry pushed against the cage.
Jackson has Lowry pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lowry manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jackson swings wildly with an uppercut but Lowry uses good head movement to avoid it.
Our sources have told us that Jackson has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Lowry just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jackson's brow.
Lowry trying to control the position but instead, Jackson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Lowry into the cage.
Lowry is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.

Jackson clinches up with Lowry and pushes him back against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Jackson.
Lowry is trying to stall.
Jackson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lowry pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Lowry cracks Jackson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lowry defends it well.
Jackson is taking a breather. Lowry says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jackson wants to work for an arm triangle but Lowry is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lowry's head.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jackson slips a nice elbow through Lowry's hands, connecting with Lowry's forehead.
Lowry felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Still in half guard, Jackson seems content to control.
Jackson moves into full mount! Lowry won't be happy about that!
Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Jackson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lowry for as long as he can get away with.

Lowry throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lowry misses the shot to the body.
Jackson tries a head kick but it misses.
Jackson fails with the takedown.
Jackson slips under a jab from Lowry.
Jackson tries to clinch up but Lowry circles away and keeps his distance.

Jackson drives through with a takedown into Lowry's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lowry avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jackson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Jordan Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lowry swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jackson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown but Lowry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jackson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jordan Jackson showed his dominance in that final round.
