Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Miguel Perez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexei Odintsov! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Odintsov misses with a looping left. Odintsov moves into the clinch successfully.
Odintsov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Perez uses from the top position. Odintsov is pulling down on Perez's head. It's preventing any offense from Perez, at least for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perez throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez trying to control the position from guard on top but Odintsov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Perez postures up in Odintsov's guard and throws a big left but Odintsov blocks it. Odintsov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Perez moves to clinch but Odintsov breaks away and Odintsov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Perez fails with a takedown attempt. Perez throws a head kick that misses. Odintsov darts in looking for a takedown but Perez gets double underhooks and turns Odintsov into the cage. Odintsov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perez sprawls well. Perez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Odintsov gets slowly back to his feet. Odintsov rushes Perez and presses him up against the cage. Odintsov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Odintsov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Perez's waist but Perez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Odintsov off to one side. Miguel Perez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexei Odintsov. Odintsov looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perez throws a sloppy head kick and Odintsov moves out of range easily. Perez goes for a double leg but Odintsov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Odintsov continues to drive forward. Odintsov fails with a takedown attempt. Perez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Odintsov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Perez lands with a thumping leg kick.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Perez. Perez throws a head kick that misses. Odintsov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Odintsov misses the shot to the body. No luck for Odintsov with that takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perez throws a body shot but no joy. Perez throws a right and a left that Odintsov avoids nicely. Odintsov misses with a straight right. Perez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. A head kick misses from Odintsov. Perez looks to land a combination but Odintsov avoids it well. Odintsov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Perez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Odintsov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Odintsov drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Perez defends it well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Perez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Odintsov circles away. Perez tries to clinch but Odintsov is having none of it. Perez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Odintsov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Alexei Odintsov will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Odintsov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Odintsov closes the distance and clinches. Odintsov pulls guard effortlessly. Odintsov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Perez looking to pass the guard. Odintsov throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

As Perez backs off Odintsov throws a huge counter combo but Perez manages to avoid it all. Odintsov clinches up with Perez and pushes him back against the cage. Odintsov looking for a takedown. Odintsov drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Perez gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Perez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Odintsov has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Perez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Odintsov just stands there and leans against the cage. Perez wants to stall.
Perez tries to circle away but Odintsov has him pinned against the cage. Perez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Odintsov breaks from the clinch.
Perez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Odintsov is fending him off so far but Perez persists. Nope, Odintsov circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Perez tries to clinch but Odintsov is having none of it. Perez misses with a takedown attempt and Odintsov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Odintsov. Perez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Odintsov.
Come on Odintsov - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Alexei Odintsov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Odintsov keeps control of Perez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Odintsov has Perez pressed against the cage, preventing Perez from circling away and getting back to striking at range. The referee calls for Odintsov to work.
Odintsov is looking for a takedown. Odintsov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Perez to keep the fight standing. Odintsov goes for a takedown attempt but Perez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Perez slaps away a takedown attempt from Odintsov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Odintsov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Perez tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Odintsov manages to circle out of the way. Perez darts in looking for a takedown but Odintsov gets double underhooks and turns Perez into the cage. Perez has a takedown stuffed. Odintsov rushes Perez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Odintsov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Perez pulls him back up using the underhooks. Perez stops a takedown attempt from Odintsov.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Perez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Odintsov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Perez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Miguel Perez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alexei Odintsov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Perez throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Odintsov blocks it with crossed arms.
And that's the end of the fight! Alexei Odintsov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Odintsov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
