Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario deRidder (ranked 4340 p4p, 430 weight class) and Sgt Slaughter (ranked 4415 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario deRidder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sgt Slaughter!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slaughter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. deRidder is trying to defend but Slaughter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Slaughter scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Still in half guard, Slaughter seems content to control.
Let's hope that Slaughter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
deRidder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nice strikes from Slaughter there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slaughter is thwarting deRidder's attempts to control the position.
deRidder wants to improve his position but Slaughter is controlling well.
Slaughter working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

deRidder could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Slaughter slips a nice elbow through deRidder's hands, connecting with deRidder's forehead.
Slaughter winds up and cracks deRidder with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
deRidder wants to get back to his feet.

Slaughter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

deRidder wants to control but Slaughter is keeping busy.
Slaughter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

deRidder pushes Slaughter off but Slaughter dives into side control.

Slaughter swings around for an armbar but deRidder sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Slaughter's guard.
deRidder seems to have got his legs back now.

deRidder got a little sloppy there for a moment and Slaughter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, deRidder has managed to get both his arms back between Slaughter's legs - danger averted.

Slaughter is looking for a triangle but deRidder pushes his legs off easily.
Slaughter has his hands on deRidder's head, controlling the position.

deRidder wants to control from the top but Slaughter keeps moving.
Slaughter is pulling down on deRidder's head. It's preventing any offense from deRidder, at least for the moment.
Slaughter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Slaughter has deRidder pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Slaughter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending deRidder tumbling to the mat - Slaughter dives into deRidder's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

deRidder might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Slaughter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

deRidder is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Slaughter is aware though and is defending well.

Slaughter scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
deRidder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Slaughter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Slaughter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

deRidder manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Slaughter keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sgt Slaughter will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Slaughter counters by moving into the clinch.

deRidder has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Slaughter is trying to keep an underhook but deRidder manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sgt Slaughter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Slaughter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
