PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Jackson (ranked 2584 p4p, 140 weight class) and Ichiro Suzuki (ranked 2466 p4p, 134 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Bobby Shmurda - Hot N*gga. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ichiro Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suzuki takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Suzuki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jackson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Suzuki somewhat.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches.

Jackson has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Coffee Shop in the buildup to the fight.

Suzuki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackson is not content to let Suzuki control the position.

Jackson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Suzuki at a distance.

and Suzuki counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Jackson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Suzuki has had enough of the clinch but Jackson keeps him there for the moment.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Suzuki throws a big shot that misses.
Jackson appears to be looking for a big counter.
Jackson is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Suzuki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Suzuki swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Jackson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jackson stalks Suzuki and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Suzuki's face. Suzuki staggers backwards, shaken.

and Jackson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suzuki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.

Jackson throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Suzuki crashing down! Suzuki tries to stagger back to his feet but Jackson just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Suzuki asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Curtis Jackson!
After winning the bout, Curtis Jackson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
