Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Derrick (ranked 733 p4p, 110 weight class) and Antonio Almeida (ranked 1138 p4p, 160 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derrick jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Derrick leaves Almeida with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Derrick tries to bum rush Almeida with a series of wild strikes but Almeida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Almeida keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Derrick misses the target.
Derrick will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Almeida is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Almeida shoots for a double leg takedown but Derrick sprawls well. He's pushed Almeida's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Almeida uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Derrick.
Almeida tries to counter with a clinch but Derrick shakes him off and moves away.
Derrick throws a series of punches but Almeida avoids them all with ease.

Derrick's jab looks to have found its range, popping Almeida under the eye.
Derrick tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Almeida was well out of range. Poor timing from Derrick.

Derrick throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Almeida is trying hard to land a takedown here. Derrick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Derrick swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Joe Derrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Almeida.

Derrick wants to clinch up but Almeida keeps it at a distance.

Almeida shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Derrick but Derrick pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Derrick connects with a nasty looking knee right to Almeida's face.
Derrick pushes Almeida back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Derrick lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Almeida backwards.

That has opened up Antonio Almeida's cut even more.

Our sources have told us that Derrick has been working on his elbows in the gym.

Antonio Almeida's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
