PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thanos Reigns (ranked 4939 p4p, 0 weight class) and Subaru Barakka (ranked 4616 p4p, 0 weight class). Barakka has chosen Bad Meets Evil - Fast Lane ft. Eminem, Royce Da 5'9 as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thanos Reigns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Subaru Barakka!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barakka instigates a clinch.

Reigns is fighting off a takedown attempt but Barakka is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Reigns to the mat. Reigns regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Reigns wants to get back to his feet but Barakka passes into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reigns actively working from the bottom here.
Barakka tries to pass to full mount but Reigns defends it.
Barakka moves nicely into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barakka controls the position from side control.

Barakka is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Reigns is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reigns sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Barakka controlling the pace.
Reigns tries to get to full guard but Barakka has control of the leg.
Barakka moves nicely into side control.
Reigns tries to improve position but can't.

Barakka is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reigns has escaped the position, nice work there.
Barakka controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barakka advances to mount.

Barakka looking for a guillotine from mount but Reigns is having none of it.
Reigns is trying to escape the mount.
Barakka controlling the position easily from mount.
Reigns can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barakka tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Barakka has hold of Reigns's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Reigns manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Reigns knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barakka on the ground.
Reigns is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Barakka sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reigns keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Barakka with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Reigns tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Barakka controlling from the full mount.
Reigns working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barakka trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Barakka controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Subaru Barakka dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Reigns moves in looking to clinch but Barakka pushes him off.
Barakka keeps the fight on the outside.

Barakka shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Reigns looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Barakka drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Barakka jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Barakka prevents Reigns from getting back to his feet.
Barakka slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Barakka has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Barakka is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Reigns's shoulder. That is not cool.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reigns is looking to regain half guard here but Barakka keeps moving and retains side control.

Barakka is working to tighten his grip on Reigns's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Reigns has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Barakka is really squeezing tight and eventually Reigns passes out! Barakka breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Subaru Barakka!
Subaru Barakka very nearly forgot to thank Kore Fight Nutrition amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
