PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billy Batson (ranked 2893 p4p, 0 weight class) and Subaru Barakka (ranked 3599 p4p, 395 weight class). Barakka has chosen Bad Meets Evil - Fast Lane ft. Eminem, Royce Da 5'9 as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Subaru Barakka enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Batson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Subaru Barakka!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barakka shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Batson pinned against the cage. Batson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Batson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Barakka changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Batson tries to clinch but Barakka is having none of it.
And Barakka tries to counter it with a takedown but Batson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Batson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barakka paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Barakka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Batson defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Batson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barakka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Batson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barakka drops back looking for a leg! Batson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Batson manages to kick Barakka off! Barakka jumps back into Batson's guard.
Batson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barakka controls the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Barakka has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Batson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barakka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barakka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Batson is looking to clinch but Barakka is avoiding it.
Batson stuffs the takedown attempt from Barakka. Barakka gets slowly back to his feet.
Batson tries to counter by clinching up but Barakka breaks away and moves out of range.
Billy Batson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Subaru Barakka.

and Barakka counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Barakka.
Barakka controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Batson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barakka on the ground.

Batson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Barakka is aware though and is defending well.
Barakka slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Barakka tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barakka has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Batson tries to escape but Barakka is in control.
Batson tries to bench press Barakka off him but Barakka keeps the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Barakka has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Batson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Subaru Barakka dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Batson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barakka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Barakka misses with a takedown attempt - Batson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Barakka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Batson keeps working.
Barakka has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Batson!
Subaru Barakka has got the better of the ground game so far.

Batson is looking to improve his position but Barakka isn't that keen on the idea.
Batson wants to try and get back to his feet.

Barakka with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Barakka tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barakka is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Batson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Batson wants to try and get back to his feet.

Barakka can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Batson is looking to escape.

Barakka throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Batson has his hands clasped together but Barakka breaks the hold and Batson is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Barakka!
