PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frankie DeSoto (ranked 4918 p4p, 401 weight class) and Arthur Morgan (ranked 3815 p4p, 0 weight class). DeSoto comes to the cage accompanied by Don’t Drop That Thun Thun. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frankie DeSoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arthur Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan closes the distance and lands a one-two.

DeSoto has closed the distance and engaged Morgan in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from DeSoto fails to land.
Morgan taking a breather.
Morgan lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of DeSoto backwards.
DeSoto blocking some punches.
DeSoto has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Morgan is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

DeSoto is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Morgan's half guard.

Morgan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and DeSoto connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Morgan scrambles back to his feet.

DeSoto throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Morgan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. DeSoto is in Morgan's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeSoto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
DeSoto makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgan pulls DeSoto in to control the position.

Morgan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. DeSoto manages to get himself to full guard.

Morgan controls from within his opponent's guard.
DeSoto utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Morgan postures up in DeSoto's guard and throws a big left but DeSoto blocks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
DeSoto is pulling down on Morgan's head to control his posture.
Morgan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as DeSoto works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Arthur Morgan will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


DeSoto stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and DeSoto wants it to stay on the feet.
Morgan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
DeSoto throws a right hand that Morgan ducks under and follows up with a left that Morgan also avoids with ease.
Frankie DeSoto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Morgan tries to move into range but DeSoto moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
DeSoto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morgan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
DeSoto throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Morgan throws a right and a left that DeSoto avoids nicely.
DeSoto moves away from the strike by Morgan.
Morgan is looking to clinch.
DeSoto feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Morgan shoots for a takedown but DeSoto saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Morgan forces DeSoto back against the cage and clinches.
DeSoto tries to work over Morgan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Morgan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but DeSoto has him pressed against the cage.
Morgan lands a right hand that snaps the head of DeSoto backwards.
Morgan tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
DeSoto is trying to break the clinch but Morgan is controlling him.

Morgan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
DeSoto throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Morgan.


It looks like Arthur Morgan has been cut.
Morgan swings for the body but DeSoto moves out of range.
DeSoto swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
DeSoto falls off balance throwing a combination
and Morgan counters with a slapping leg kick.
DeSoto tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Morgan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
DeSoto takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Morgan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. DeSoto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
DeSoto tries to counter by clinching up but Morgan breaks away and moves out of range.
Morgan misses with a series of wild punches.

DeSoto misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Morgan.
A punch lands to the side of Morgan 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Morgan scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morgan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DeSoto is looking for a sweep. Morgan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Morgan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Morgan wants to control but DeSoto is keeping him busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Morgan closes this distance looking for a takedown but DeSoto circles away.
Frankie DeSoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Morgan.

Morgan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but DeSoto was well out of range. Poor timing from Morgan.
Morgan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
DeSoto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

DeSoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Morgan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Morgan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but DeSoto avoids it really well and circles away.

Arthur Morgan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Morgan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
DeSoto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Morgan is looking to take a break and control but DeSoto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Morgan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Morgan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
DeSoto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Morgan on the ground.
DeSoto is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Morgan scores with a couple of nice shots.

Morgan seems to be looking for submissions.
DeSoto is looking to improve his position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morgan is trying to control the action in half guard but DeSoto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Arthur Morgan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Morgan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
