PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Full Time Panda (ranked 935 p4p, 819 weight class) and Yago Steve (ranked 39 p4p, 16 weight class). Yago Steve will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Full Time Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Yago Steve!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Panda is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Steve's half guard.
Steve pushes Panda off looking to stand but Panda dives back in and keeps control.
Panda throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steve is trying to stand up here but Panda is controlling him well.
We've been hearing good reports from Panda's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Steve's coach down at JAG Battle Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Steve's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Steve shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Steve is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Full Time Panda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Panda looking to score a takedown here. Steve is defending well but Panda drives through and ends up in Steve's guard.

Steve manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Steve is pressed up against the cage. Panda has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Steve down to the mat. Steve avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steve tries to kick Panda off but Panda keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steve has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Panda is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
