Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Formby!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Formby fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Whistler throws a lazy head kick

and Formby moves into the clinch.

Whistler breaks the clinch.
Whistler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Formby as he avoids it easily.

Formby closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Whistler is trying to drag Formby to the mat but Formby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Formby is trying to push Whistler away but Whistler has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whistler goes for a takedown attempt but Formby pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Formby lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Formby.
Whistler shoots in looking for a takedown but Formby manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Whistler's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Whistler drops down looking for an ankle pick but Formby pulls his leg out and moves away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Formby has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Whistler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Whistler is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Formby is pulling down on Whistler's head. It's preventing any offense from Whistler, at least for the moment.

Whistler thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Formby's head.

Whistler seems to be working for a kimura but Formby defends the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Formby is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Whistler pulls his head out easily.
Formby has hold of Whistler's hands but Whistler slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Whistler is stalling here. Formby is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Whistler seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Formby has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Whistler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Formby defends well and Whistler ends up having to push Formby into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Well Formby has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
