Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Williams (ranked 4482 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Daniels (ranked 4933 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daniels scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Daniels controlling the position from side mount.
Williams wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Daniels takes a little break here. Williams wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Daniels goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Williams rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Daniels's guard! Nice work there by Williams!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Daniels's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Daniels is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Williams misses with a body kick.

Daniels closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Williams's guard.

Williams manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Daniels has Williams pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Daniels pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Williams tumbling to the mat - Daniels dives into Williams's guard.
Daniels must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Daniels postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
Daniels wants to stand but Williams is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Daniels gets to his feet - Williams follows without any prompting.

Daniels misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Williams tries to clinch up but Daniels circles away and keeps his distance.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Daniels paws at him with a jab and circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Daniels drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.

Daniels is trying to ground and pound but Williams uses the momentary lack of control by Daniels to regain half guard.
Daniels looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Williams is staying active underneath Daniels, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Daniels seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Daniels throwing shots but Williams is blocking nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Daniels stalling away here and it's allowed Williams to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Daniels controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniels prevents Williams from getting back to his feet.
Daniels is working Williams over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A close round but Anthony Daniels will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Williams gets tackled into the cage by Daniels. Daniels maintains the clinch.
Williams can't break the clinch.
Daniels blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Daniels has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Williams regains guard immediately.
Daniels throws a big elbow that misses.

Daniels tries to stand but Williams is controlling from the bottom.

Daniels lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Daniels rushes Williams and presses him up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Williams's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Daniels has Williams pressed against the cage, preventing Williams from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
With the fighters up against the cage, Williams throws an elbow but misses.

Daniels breaks the clinch.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but Daniels swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Williams might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Williams won't allow Daniels to pass to mount.
Daniels with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
It looks like Daniels is going to stand back up.

Daniels is trying to work for a kimura but Williams is defending well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Daniels is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Williams!
Daniels has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Daniels lands a couple of good shots and Williams has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Anthony Daniels has got the better of the ground game so far.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Daniels. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Daniels has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Williams's body.
Daniels cracks Williams with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Williams from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Williams is trying to shake Daniels off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Daniels won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Anthony Daniels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Williams gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Daniels stops Williams from standing up.

Daniels decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Shawn Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Daniels decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Williams's guard.

Daniels is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Daniels throws a strike but Williams rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Williams stands and steps away. Daniels gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Daniels counters with a big head kick but Williams shrugs it off.

Daniels misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Williams gets caught flat footed, as Daniels shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Daniels seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Williams keeping moving, preventing Daniels from controlling successfully.
Williams wants to stand but Daniels is controlling the position.
Daniels is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Daniels looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Daniels prevents Williams from standing back up.
Daniels frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Anthony Daniels comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daniels has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
