Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Masterson (ranked 4556 p4p, 207 weight class) and Ibasour Sershurrapal (ranked 4931 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ibasour Sershurrapal!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sershurrapal enables Masterson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sershurrapal manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sershurrapal has his hands on Masterson's head, controlling the position.

Sershurrapal throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Masterson escapes and throws Sershurrapal's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Sershurrapal is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Masterson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sershurrapal creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Sershurrapal tries to pull guard but Masterson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Masterson jumps guard but Sershurrapal turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Masterson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sershurrapal uses from the top position.

Sershurrapal has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sershurrapal lands with a right to the head.
Masterson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Masterson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sershurrapal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sershurrapal has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Masterson uses from the top position.

Sershurrapal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Masterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
