Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Willis (ranked 4450 p4p, 507 weight class) and Ben Jacobs (ranked 5706 p4p, 570 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Willis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Jacobs!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Willis's waist but Willis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jacobs off to one side.

Jacobs pushes Willis up against the cage in a clinch.
Jacobs is trying to pull guard but Willis turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Jacobs can't find room to land a body shot as Willis controls the action.
Willis dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Jacobs jumps guard but Willis stands there with Jacobs around his waist. Jacobs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
John Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Jacobs.
Willis lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jacobs tries to pull guard but Willis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Jacobs decides to pull guard.
Jacobs trying to keep a closed guard but Willis is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jacobs has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Willis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jacobs.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jacobs can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jacobs tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jacobs trying to remain calm as Willis controls from the top position.

Willis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Jacobs fails to land with a series of punches.
Jacobs shoots for a double leg takedown but Willis sprawls well. He's pushed Jacobs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jacobs or perhaps it was just good defense by Willis, which made it look bad.

Willis moves into range and clinches up with Jacobs.
Jacobs changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Willis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Willis rushes Jacobs and presses him up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jacobs wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Willis has him pressed against the cage.
Jacobs has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jacobs is trying to drag Willis to the mat but Willis just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jacobs jumps guard but Willis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Jacobs wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jacobs decides to pull guard.
Willis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jacobs is trying to keep Willis in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Willis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Willis dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Willis moves into the clinch.
Willis prevents the takedown attempt.
Jacobs tries to pull guard but Willis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Jacobs is stalling here.

Willis tightens his grip and picks Jacobs up, before dumping him to the ground. Jacobs manages to land in guard.
Jacobs is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Willis dives into side control.

Jacobs trying to control but Willis flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jacobs tries to roll but Willis sticks to his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
What can Jacobs do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Jacobs is trying to break free.
Willis is riding his opponent, not letting Jacobs buck him off.

Willis looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Jacobs taps!
