Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Topham Hatt (ranked 5095 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tali Maru (ranked 4816 p4p, 388 weight class). Maru has chosen Kamate Kamate as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maru throws a body shot but no joy.
Maru takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Maru tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A lazy left from Hatt finds it's target.
Maru takes a swing at Hatt's ribcage but misses.
Hatt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Maru on the side of the head.
No luck for Hatt with that takedown attempt.
Hatt fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head kick misses from Maru.
Hatt connects with an inside leg kick.
Topham Hatt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Hatt counters with a nice body shot.
Maru lands a head kick that stumbles Hatt and the fighters go to the mat.

Maru is trying to control the action in half guard but Hatt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hatt is looking for a sweep. Maru is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Maru is looking to take a break and control but Hatt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Maru might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hatt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hatt lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Maru throws a head kick but Hatt moves out of range.

Hatt dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Maru. That did some damage!

Hatt uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Maru takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Maru takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Maru moves out of range as Hatt throws a body kick.
Hatt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Maru stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hatt throws a wild body kick that Maru sees coming a mile off.

Maru tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maru chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hatt can pounce on him.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Hatt lands with a shot to the body.
Maru tries to clinch but Hatt moves out of range.
Maru sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hatt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maru can do to turn this around?
Hatt manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Maru on his heels. He'll look to pass Maru's guard now, I'm sure.

Maru is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hatt defends well.
Maru is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Maru wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Maru is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hatt jumps into guard, dragging Maru to the mat.
Maru throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hatt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hatt jabs Maru to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hatt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hatt throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hatt turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Maru has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Maru there as he acknowledges the shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hatt connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Maru takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Maru ducks right into an uppercut from Hatt.
Maru tries to clinch but Hatt is having none of it.
It appears Hatt was looking to counter with a kick there.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Hatt.

Hatt lands a nice leg kick that just misses Maru's sensitive parts.

Maru tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Maru takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hatt pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Maru is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hatt here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Hatt fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Maru.
Hatt misses with a low kick.
And Maru tries to counter it with a takedown but Hatt pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hatt moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Maru stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hatt.

Maru has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hatt.

Hatt throws a leg kick which misses Maru's front leg but catches the back leg as Maru tries to avoid it.
Maru needs to keep his hands up - Hatt had a free shot at his head there.

Hatt thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Maru if he has to take too many more of those.
Maru moves in looking to clinch but Hatt pushes him off.

Hatt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maru defends well and Hatt ends up having to push Maru into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Maru's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Maru throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Hatt lands a leg kick that knocks Maru off balance momentarily.
Hatt fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Well Hatt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
