PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Quinn (ranked 24656 p4p, 731 weight class) and Emilio Porter (ranked 24596 p4p, 742 weight class). Porter has chosen Cambodia as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Justin Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Emilio Porter!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Porter is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Quinn.
No luck for Quinn with that takedown attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Porter has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Quinn as Porter shoots in.
Porter fails to land the takedown.
Quinn throws a head kick that Porter semi-blocks.

Quinn rushes Porter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Porter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Quinn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Quinn shoots for a takedown but Porter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Quinn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Porter tries to avoid it but Quinn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Porter to the ground. Porter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Porter let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Quinn misses with a body kick.
And Porter tries to counter it with a takedown but Quinn pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Porter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Quinn gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Quinn has hold of one of Porter's legs. Porter is fighting the takedown attempt but Quinn gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Porter seems keen to control Quinn's posture.
Quinn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Porter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Quinn wants to control from the top but Porter keeps moving.

Quinn throws an elbow that misses. Porter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Quinn's guard. Nice move by Porter!

Porter stays in close to Quinn's body and controls the position.
Quinn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Quinn tries to get out of the position.
Porter with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Porter passes Quinn's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Quinn is trying to stand back up but Porter is controlling him
Porter working over Quinn with some ground and pound. Quinn looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Porter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Porter keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
It looks like Porter might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Quinn tries to kick Porter off but Porter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Quinn on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Porter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Porter lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Porter shoots in but no luck this time.
Justin Quinn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Quinn moves in looking to clinch but Porter pushes him off.
Quinn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
It looked like Quinn was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Porter.

Quinn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A right-left combo lands from Quinn.
A jab from Quinn finds it's way through Porter's defenses.
Quinn tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Quinn pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Porter back to the cage. Quinn follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Porter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Quinn is pressed up against the cage. Porter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Quinn down to the mat. Quinn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Quinn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Porter as he avoids it easily.

Quinn is looking to clinch but Porter is avoiding it.
Quinn fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Porter tries to counter with a clinch but Quinn shakes him off and moves away.
Porter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Quinn as he jumps to the side.

Quinn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Porter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Porter shoots in for a takedown but Quinn shows good takedown defense.

Porter takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Porter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Quinn fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Quinn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
