Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Timo Hirvikangas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hansi Kursch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timo Hirvikangas has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hirvikangas finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kursch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hirvikangas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kursch moves away.
The fighters circling - Hirvikangas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kursch misses with a shot to the body
and Hirvikangas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kursch shoots for a double leg takedown but Hirvikangas sprawls well. He's pushed Kursch's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kursch is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kursch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kursch takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hirvikangas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kursch moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Timo Hirvikangas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kursch throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kursch tries to close the distance and clinch but Hirvikangas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kursch doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hirvikangas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kursch's guard.
Timo Hirvikangas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hansi Kursch.

Hirvikangas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kursch doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hirvikangas.

Hirvikangas has control of Kursch's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kursch regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hirvikangas is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Kursch is in real trouble.

Hirvikangas has the hooks in. Kursch is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Hirvikangas is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kursch has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Hirvikangas has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kursch taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Hirvikangas doesn't care though - he's delighted!
