Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rubens Charles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob $tone! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Charles shoots in for a takedown but $tone shows good takedown defense. Charles throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. $tone tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Charles is in $tone's guard. $tone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Charles is aware though and is defending well. $tone looking for a guillotine here but Charles defends easily.
Charles got a little sloppy there for a moment and $tone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Charles has managed to get both his arms back between $tone's legs - danger averted. Charles content to stall in guard here. Charles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. $tone swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. $tone looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

$tone wants to get up but he can't break Charles's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Charles wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Charles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Charles landing with the ground and pound. $tone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Charles is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Charles wants to control from the top but $tone keeps moving. $tone is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. $tone is looking for a triangle here but Charles uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
$tone tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Charles wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Charles moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Charles tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. $tone is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Charles lands a few punches from side control. Charles is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, $tone has escaped the position, nice work there. $tone is looking to reverse the position. $tone is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Charles off and has taken his back! $tone is riding his opponent, not letting Charles buck him off. $tone is not going to allow Charles to sit and survive in this position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! $tone missing with punches from the back. Charles trying to control but not successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rubens Charles will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
$tone keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. $tone cracks Charles with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Nice defenses there by $tone. $tone lands a jab to the nose. $tone swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Charles. Charles has his takedown stuffed and $tone counters with a lovely straight right hand! Charles shoots in for a takedown but $tone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rubens Charles. That's going to take a lot out of him. Charles has his takedown stuffed and $tone connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Charles shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling $tone to counter with a crisp jab. $tone steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Charles. and $tone counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Charles's hands are dropping dangerously low here and $tone connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Charles scrambles back to his feet. $tone scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Charles. A shot to the liver by $tone. Beautiful body shot. Charles shoots and misses and $tone counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Charles with a lazy takedown attempt and $tone counters with a lovely straight right hand! $tone with a body punch. A glancing blow. Charles tries for a takedown but $tone circles away easily and $tone counters with a stiff right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Charles takes one to the side of the head.
A jab from $tone does it's job there.
Charles is rocked! Charles closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. $tone has been the more effective fighter overall so far. $tone is looking to control Charles's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can $tone avoid being mounted? $tone is looking for a sweep. Charles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Charles passes to side control. $tone struggling a bit here. $tone tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Charles in the domination position with $tone hanging on. $tone struggling a bit here. Charles has hold of $tone's arm. He's looking for a kimura. $tone seems comfortable defending it but Charles has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! $tone is real pain and he's forced to tap out! $tone is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Charles couldn't care less - he's delighted!
