PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malaki Lima (ranked 1104 p4p, 137 weight class) and Kingsley Brown (ranked 1153 p4p, 142 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Malaki Lima has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Malaki Lima seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Malaki Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kingsley Brown!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lima manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brown on his heels. He'll look to pass Brown's guard now, I'm sure.
Lima trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lima slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Lima passes Brown's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown won't allow Lima to pass to mount.
Lima performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Brown slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Brown trying to keep a closed guard but Lima is proving a slippery customer.
Brown keeping moving, preventing Lima from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lima is in close to Brown's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lima won't allow Brown to sweep him here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brown can do anything to dispel that myth.
Brown is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brown tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Lima gets full guard.
Brown wants to control from the top but Lima keeps moving.
Lima working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Brown.

Brown trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Lima manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Brown is pulling down on Lima's head. It's preventing any offense from Lima, at least for the moment.
Lima stays in close to Brown's body and controls the position.

Lima might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lima trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lima. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brown is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lima is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Lima seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brown for as long as he can get away with.

Lima drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lima jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Brown is defending against the submission attempts here by Lima.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lima controlling the pace.
Lima continues to stall.
Brown wants to improve his position but Lima is controlling well.

Lima is working for a kimura but Brown is defending it quite comfortably.
Brown is trying to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lima frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Brown has given up his back. Will we see Lima going for some submissions?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malaki Lima dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lima loads up on a big right hand but Brown slips the punch.
Lima ducks under a wild hook from Brown.
Lima shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brown but Brown pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lima tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brown swivels and escapes.
Lima throws a head kick but Brown moves out of range.
Brown throws out a counter right but Lima avoids it with no problem.
A head kick misses from Lima.
Malaki Lima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lima has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Malaki Lima has been cut.
Brown lands a right hook to the body.
No joy there for Brown, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A head kick misses from Brown.
Lima jabbing away but nothing is landing.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Brown crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lima - the referee stops the clock and Brown gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lima. Brown manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Lima throws a good cross that connects.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Lima, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Malaki Lima. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brown dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kingsley Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Brown stuffs the takedown attempt from Lima. Lima gets slowly back to his feet.
Lima shoots and misses
and Brown counters with a straight right hand.
Lima swings away with a body shot that misses
letting Brown counter with a right hand.
Lima throws a sloppy head kick and Brown moves out of range easily.
Brown bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brown lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Brown scores with a nice body kick.
Brown pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Brown lands a big head kick that sends Lima tumbling to the mat! Brown takes a step backwards and waves Lima back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Lima is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
BAM! Brown delivers a spinning backfist that drops Lima like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). Kingsley Brown!
An intense looking Kingsley Brown took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: '"where's Sobchak at,where are you punk lets have a rematch and see who bleeds this time".'.
