Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Sergei Ulatov (ranked 2580 p4p, 284 weight class) and Joshua Brown (ranked 2833 p4p, 308 weight class). Brown has chosen Hail Mary Tupac as his entrance music. Sergei Ulatov had a look across the ring there at his opponent. He definitely means business

In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Sergei Ulatov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 4 losses; Joshua Brown!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Ulatov shoots in and gets a takedown into Brown's guard.

Ulatov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Brown dives on top into guard.

Ulatov looking for a guillotine here but Brown defends easily.

Ulatov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brown can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ulatov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ulatov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ulatov.
Brown is looking for a sweep. Ulatov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ulatov wants to take a breather but Brown is having none of it.
Brown is looking to control Ulatov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brown avoid being mounted?
Brown is positioning himself well to prevent Ulatov advancing to mount.

Ulatov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brown is just riding it out for now. Ulatov eventually gives up the hold.

Brown is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ulatov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ulatov's back!

Brown keeps control of the position as Ulatov tries to break free.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Ulatov wants to work for an arm triangle but Brown is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Brown felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Ulatov stands and throws Brown's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Ulatov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ulatov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ulatov tries to advance to mount but Brown denies him.

Brown can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Ulatov has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Brown is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ulatov yanks on the arm and Brown is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ulatov.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sergei Ulatov!
After winning the bout, Sergei Ulatov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
