Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Logan Walker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hugh Knobber! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knobber connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Walker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Knobber misses with a wild combination.
Knobber bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Knobber creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Walker sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Walker takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The ground and pound from Knobber seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Knobber working the ground and pound but Walker is defending the strikes. Walker keeping his opponent close. Walker parries the strikes from Knobber easily there. Knobber is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Walker to escape.
Knobber working the strikes but Walker uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Walker blocking the ground and pound attempt from Knobber. Knobber trying to pass the guard but Walker defending well. Knobber looks to land a strike but Walker avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Knobber can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Knobber working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Walker is pulling down on Knobber's head to control his posture. Knobber wants to pass the guard but Walker is keeping the position. Walker controls Knobber momentarily but Knobber frees himself. Knobber working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Walker's head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Knobber accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Knobber must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Knobber is in close to Walker's body, working some short punches and elbows. Walker will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Walker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Knobber! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Knobber is working to get back to half guard.
Walker could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Knobber is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Walker thowing shots but they're missing. Walker is going olschool here, as he tries to force Knobber to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Knobber shrugs it off. Knobber is looking to get to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Knobber can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walker is landing with some decent strikes but Knobber is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Knobber is desperately trying to improve his position but Walker has a good base and remains in mount. Knobber looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Walker keeps control of the position as Knobber tries to break free.
Walker tries to get the hooks in deep but Knobber pushed the leg off. Knobber is in bad spot here.
Knobber won't enjoy being in this position. Walker looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Knobber is tapping - it's over boys! Walker picks up the submission victory!
