Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Saravia does no damage.
Vergys changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Enrique Saravia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saravia lands a left and a right that send Vergys crashing to the mat, dazed. Saravia thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Vergys has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Saravia finds it's way round the side to connect with Vergys's head.
No joy there for Saravia, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Saravia throws a series of punches but Vergys moves out of range.

Saravia has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Vergys off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Saravia is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vergys.

Saravia jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vergys tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Saravia tests Vergys's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Saravia is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Saravia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Saravia's corner calls for a 1-2. Saravia obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Saravia throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Vergys's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Saravia dives in looking to finish as Vergys flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Saravia's strikes! Saravia is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Vergys's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Vergys was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
