PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Khunbish Borjigin (ranked 103 p4p, 17 weight class) and Frank Stein (ranked 161 p4p, 26 weight class). Stein has chosen Red - Falling Sky as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Khunbish Borjigin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Frank Stein!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stein steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Borjigin.
Borjigin lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.


It looks like Frank Stein has been cut.
Borjigin misses with a low kick.
Borjigin throws a right hand that misses
and Stein counters with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Khunbish Borjigin has been cut.
Khunbish Borjigin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Borjigin turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Borjigin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Borjigin lands with a nice body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stein tries to close the distance and clinch but Borjigin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Borjigin misses with a straight right.
Stein uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Borjigin.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stein displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Borjigin throws out the jab.
Borjigin thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Stein if he has to take too many more of those.
Borjigin misses with an uppercut.
Stein tries to counter with a clinch but Borjigin shakes him off and moves away.
Stein tries a low kick but Borjigin avoids it.

Stein has closed the distance and engaged Borjigin in a clinch.
Stein keeps control of Borjigin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Stein told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Borjigin throws a head punch that misses.
Stein fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Borjigin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Stein uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Borjigin.
Borjigin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Borjigin - that will leave a mark!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Borjigin looks to score with a jab to the body but Stein is just out of range.
Nice defenses there by Borjigin.
Stein throws a push kick but Borjigin slaps the foot to one side.
Stein moves out of range of the body kick.
Borjigin throws an overhand right that lands on Stein's shoulder, as Stein tries to avoid the shot.
Borjigin sets himself, and Stein steps forward looking for the clinch! Borjigin avoids it this time.
Borjigin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Borjigin scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Borjigin blocks a head kick by Stein.
Borjigin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stein does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A shot to the body from Borjigin misses
and Stein counters with a nice low kick that buckles Borjigin's knee momentarily.
Stein has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Borjigin is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Stein's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Borjigin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Borjigin throws a lazy right hand but Stein sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Stein! But no joy.
Stein throws a body punch but Borjigin moves out of range.
Borjigin fires out a quick counter leg kick but Stein just manages to avoid it.
Borjigin misses with a hook to the body
and Stein counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Borjigin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


That has opened up Frank Stein's cut even more.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Borjigin throws a nice outside leg kick.

Stein fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Borjigin, pushing him back against the cage.
A body shot lands from Borjigin.
With the fighters up against the cage, Stein throws an elbow but misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Borjigin manages to break the clinch.
Stein moves out of range as Borjigin throws a body kick.
Borjigin swats away the attempt to clinch by Stein.
Stein throws a chopping leg kick but Borjigin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Borjigin is looking to counter punch.
Borjigin lands with a cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Khunbish Borjigin dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


That kick from Borjigin tenderised Stein's leg. Stein is trying to keep his angry face on.
Borjigin throws a lazy uppercut
and Stein counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Borjigin lands with a right hand.
Borjigin throws a looping overhand right but Stein ducks down to avoid it.
Stein wants to counter with a clinch but Borjigin pushes him away.
Borjigin gets in close and tags Stein with a short punch that almost sends Stein to the mat! Oh Stein is in big trouble! He turns his back on Borjigin, trying to create some distance but Borjigin rushes him, striking wildly and Stein goes down! The referee tackles Borjigin into the cage to end the fight! Borjigin is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khunbish Borjigin!
Khunbish Borjigin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
