Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Formby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yrkki Tyrni! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Formby wants to clinch. Nice takedown defense from Formby. No joy for Tyrni on that attempt. Tyrni closes the distance and clinches up with Formby, looking for a takedown. Tyrni pushes Formby against the cage but Formby circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Tyrni doesn't manage to clinch there - Formby circles away.
Tyrni fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Thomas Formby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yrkki Tyrni. Formby clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Formby is stalling here.

Horrible takedown attempt by Tyrni or perhaps it was just good defense by Formby, which made it look bad. Tyrni fails with a takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Tyrni. Tyrni has a takedown stuffed. Formby moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Formby lands with an uppercut that bounces Tyrni off the cage and back into range. Tyrni blocks a low kick nicely. Tyrni shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Formby as he jumps to the side. Formby slips a straight right by Tyrni. Tyrni just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromFormby. Formby fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Formby pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Tyrni misses with a kick to the body.
Formby fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tyrni, pushing him back against the cage. Formby prevents a body shot from Tyrni.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Formby has had enough of the clinch but Tyrni keeps him there for the moment. Tyrni has Formby pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Formby manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Formby has had enough of the clinch but Tyrni keeps him there for the moment. Tyrni breaks from the clinch.
Yrkki Tyrni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Tyrni. Tyrni looks winded! Formby scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Tyrni tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Formby closes the distance and clinches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tyrni goes for a takedown in the clinch but Formby prevents it.

Formby breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Formby misses with a body kick. Formby definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Formby throws a half hearted mid kick. Tyrni shoots in and drives through. Formby sprawls well. Tyrni tries to clinch but Formby is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Formby tries to land a front kick but Tyrni steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Tyrni tries to work over Formby's front leg with a kick but Formby checks it. Donk. Formby catches Tyrni right on the button with a cross. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrni wants a takedown.
Tyrni has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Formby is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Tyrni is pushing Formby up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Tyrni wants to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round. Formby lands a hook that snaps the head of Tyrni backwards. Formby tries to break the clinch but Tyrni is controlling the position. Tyrni tries to work over Formby's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Tyrni stalling in the clinch but Formby improves position. Formby is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tyrni can do to turn this around? Formby prevents the takedown attempt.

Thomas Formby is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Formby tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Tyrni tries to clinch there but Formby circles away.
It looked like Formby was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Tyrni moves in looking to clinch but Formby pushes him off. Tyrni shoots in for a takedown but Formby shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tyrni tries to close the distance and clinch up but Formby swats him away and circles back towards the center. Formby is looking to counter the offense by Tyrni and move into the clinch. Formby tries to bum rush Tyrni with a series of wild strikes but Tyrni uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Formby feints a jab promting Tyrni to slip. Formby then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tyrni slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Tyrni is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Formby.
Tyrni is rocked! Formby tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Tyrni is still on wobbly legs! Can Formby finish him? Tyrni walks straight into a right hand from Formby - that's dropped him! Formby jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Tyrni from any more punishment! Tyrni complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
