Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Ulatov (ranked 2579 p4p, 283 weight class) and Mike Charles (ranked 2070 p4p, 228 weight class). Charles has chosen Renegades Of Funk - Rage Against The Machine as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Ulatov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Charles!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Charles. No joy for Ulatov on that attempt.
Charles throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ulatov throws a shot from downtown. Charles moves away and avoids it.
Ulatov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Charles paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ulatov takes the fight into the clinch.
Charles lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Charles is pushing Ulatov up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Ulatov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ulatov has Charles pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Charles manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergei Ulatov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Charles lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
A quick uppercut on the inside from Charles.
Charles pushes Ulatov back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Charles displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ulatov up against the cage.
Charles goes for a takedown attempt but Ulatov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ulatov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Charles counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ulatov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Charles swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A nice side step and Charles releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Ulatov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Charles to the ground. Ulatov is now in Charles's guard.

Ulatov has gone for a leg lock! Charles slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ulatov's guard.

Ulatov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Charles advances position into side control!

Charles looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Charles wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ulatov, who protects the arm well.
Ulatov is looking for a sweep.
Ulatov seems a little lost for a moment, as Charles dominates the positioning.

Charles tries for a kimura but Ulatov is defending well.

Charles working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ulatov is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Ulatov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Charles moves into full mount!
Charles is landing with some decent strikes but Ulatov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Charles is working for a guillotine from mount but Ulatov frees his head quite easily.
Ulatov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Charles working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Ulatov is trying to escape the mount.
Ulatov tries to lock up and control but Charles gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Charles lands a heavy elbow.
Ulatov gets back to half guard.

Charles seems to be working for a kimura but Ulatov defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ulatov looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ulatov tries to roll over but Charles keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Charles dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ulatov looks to clinch
and Charles counters with a straight right hand.
Ulatov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Charles avoids it really well and circles away.
Charles is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Charles rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ulatov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ulatov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Charles.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ulatov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ulatov fails with the takedown.
Charles looks like he wants to counter punch here.

and Charles counters with a right hand to the body.

Charles gets caught napping as Ulatov dives in and scores a takedown. Charles manages to retain guard.
Charles looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ulatov puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Ulatov is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Charles as he works his way to full guard.

Charles is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ulatov tries to get to full guard but Charles has control of the leg.

Charles is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ulatov!

Oh Ulatov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ulatov seems to have got his legs back now.

Charles looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Charles has hold of Ulatov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ulatov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ulatov wants to control but Charles is having none of it.
Charles is looking to work his way around to Ulatov's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Ulatov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Charles is working away from the top position though.

Charles is working for a kimura but Ulatov is defending it quite comfortably.

Charles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Charles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Ulatov misses with a takedown attempt
and Charles connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Charles forces Ulatov back against the cage and clinches.

Ulatov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Ulatov trying to control the position from guard on top but Charles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Charles is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ulatov defends well.
Ulatov passes Charles's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ulatov is just content to waste time from the top position. Charles takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Ulatov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Charles is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ulatov, into his guard.

Charles has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ulatov is looking for a triangle but Charles pushes his legs off easily.
Ulatov tries to strike from the bottom.
Ulatov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Charles slips nicely into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Charles throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Charles is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ulatov has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ulatov manages to get to full guard.
Charles passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Ulatov can't do much from the bottom here.
Ulatov looks to move to half guard but instead Charles has passed into mount! Damn!

Ulatov is desperately trying to improve his position but Charles has a good base and remains in mount.
Ulatov slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Mike Charles is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Charles seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ulatov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Charles is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ulatov!
Sergei Ulatov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Charles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
