Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abner Applegate (ranked 250 p4p, 42 weight class) and Mick Murphy (ranked 125 p4p, 19 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abner Applegate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mick Murphy! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murphy is looking to chop away at Applegate's legs. Murphy looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Applegate throws a hook to the side of Murphy's head but Murphy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Murphy throws out a loose jab but Applegate uses good head movement to avoid it. Abner Applegate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Murphy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Murphy swats away the attempt to clinch by Applegate. Applegate ducks under a wild hook from Murphy. Murphy throws a lazy right hand but Applegate sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Applegate scores with a punch to the head. Applegate drops Murphy with a beautiful combination! Murphy stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Applegate is looking for the KO!
It looks like Mick Murphy has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Murphy looks to score with a jab to the body but Applegate is just out of range. Murphy takes a swing at Applegate's ribcage but misses. Murphy takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Murphy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Murphy throws a big shot that misses. Applegate fails in his attempt to clinch. Applegate scores with a jab to the body. Murphy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
That's one minute gone in the round. A solid leg kick lands there for Murphy.
Applegate tries to clinch but Murphy is having none of it. Murphy throws a quick inside leg kick. Applegate misses the jab. Murphy looks like he wants to counter punch here. Applegate misses with a head kick.
Applegate closes the distance but Murphy moves to the side enabling Murphy to counter with a crisp jab. Murphy throws a shot from downtown. Applegate moves away and avoids it. Applegate tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Murphy paws at him with a jab and circles away. Applegate tries to clinch but Murphy is having none of it. Applegate ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. The fight stays on the outside here - Applegate looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Murphy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Applegate. Applegate fires out a quick counter leg kick but Murphy just manages to avoid it. Applegate gets a clinch. Applegate lands a hook that snaps the head of Murphy backwards. Murphy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Murphy throws a lazy right hand but Applegate sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. We've been told by Applegate's head coaches at Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Murphy lands a right hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A lazy left from Murphy finds it's target. Applegate swings for the body but Murphy moves out of range.
It seemed like Murphy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Applegate moves in looking to clinch but Murphy pushes him off. Murphy gets tackled into the cage by Applegate. Applegate maintains the clinch. Applegate tries to throw a body punch but Murphy avoids it by throwing Applegate back against the cage. Murphy tries to work over Applegate's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Murphy misses with a hook from the clinch. Applegate misses with a hook to the ribs.
Murphy misses with some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Applegate. Murphy lands a body shot. A head punch blocked on the inside by Murphy. Murphy misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Murphy is looking to break free of the clinch but Applegate has double underhooks. Applegate tries to work over Murphy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Murphy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Applegate moves in looking to clinch but Murphy pushes him off. Applegate tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Murphy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Murphy circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Applegate. Applegate misses with a wild body shot. Nice defenses there by Murphy. Applegate needs to keep his hands up - Murphy had a free shot at his head there. Applegate takes one to the chin there. Applegate scores with a sloppy right hand. Murphy should have avoided that one. An inside leg kick lands from Applegate. Applegate on the wrong end of a nice jab. Murphy lands with an overhand left.
Applegate is rocked! Murphy fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Applegate to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Applegate looks to clinch but Murphy throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Applegate taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
