Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Valdez (ranked 6709 p4p, 565 weight class) and Sonny Rollins (ranked 5025 p4p, 0 weight class). Valdez comes into the arena with Pump it up blaring out of the sound system. Rollins has chosen Cochise as his entrance music. Sonny Rollins told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rollins blocks a head kick by Valdez.
Rollins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Valdez is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rollins.
Valdez avoids the head kick by Rollins.
Rollins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Valdez tries to avoid it but Rollins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Valdez to the ground. Valdez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Valdez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Valdez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Valdez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Valdez wants it to stay on the feet.
Jose Valdez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sonny Rollins.
Rollins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Valdez lands a big head kick that sends Rollins tumbling to the mat! Valdez takes a step backwards and waves Rollins back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Rollins is rocked!
It looks like Sonny Rollins has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Valdez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rollins tries a quick counter leg kick but Valdez is wise to it.
Rollins is still on wobbly legs! Can Valdez finish him?
Valdez lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rollins's sensitive parts.
Valdez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Valdez wants it to stay on the feet.
Rollins gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Valdez counters with a perfectly timed head kick, knocking Rollins out cold! Wow, that took some serious skill and not a little luck! Valdez is taking it in his stride though, strolling around like it's no big deal. What a guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jose Valdez!
