Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Larry Hoover! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rimsky Carl! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carl misses the jab. Hoover bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Carl's head. Carl misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hoover.
Hoover lands a jab. Carl forces Hoover back against the cage and clinches. Hoover really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Carl throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Carl prevents Hoover from breaking the clinch. Carl is working Hoover over against the cage. Carl misses with an elbow strike.
Hoover blocks an elbow strike. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carl presses Hoover against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Carl lands a hook to the side of the head. Carl lands with a short head shot on the inside. Carl pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Hoover is looking to break free of the clinch but Carl has double underhooks. Hoover wants to break the clinch but can't.
Carl tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carl lands a body shot in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Hoover's face as he tries to break the clinch. Carl lands a right hand. With the fighters up against the cage, Carl throws an elbow but misses. Carl lands a left hand.
Carl lands an uppercut. Carl scores with a nice hook to the head. Hoover takes a knee right on the jaw!
Hoover is rocked! Hoover wants to break the clinch but can't.
Oh Hoover is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Carl lands a body punch. Hoover is breathing heavily. Still in the clinch, Carl scores with a nice short uppercut. Hoover blocks an elbow strike from Carl.
Carl lands a right hand that snaps the head of Hoover backwards. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carl dips a shoulder and cracks Hoover with a mighty uppercut! Hoover falls back against the cage and Carl unloads with a barrage of strikes! Hoover is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Carl screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rimsky Carl! Jumping up and down and very excited, Rimsky Carl waved his t-shirt featuring Prosper Gear's logo in front of the cameras.
