Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Katsu Ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ko comes into a darkened arena with his song building. National Anthem kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Katsu Ko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Mendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Katsu Ko!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ko takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ko tries to clinch but Mendez moves out of range.
Mendez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mendez jumps into guard, dragging Ko to the mat.
Ko would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mendez keeping full guard, as Ko tries to pass.
Ko postures up in Mendez's guard and throws a big left but Mendez blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendez is pulling down on Ko's head. It's preventing any offense from Ko, at least for the moment.
Ko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mendez working for a triangle but Ko defends it easily.
Mendez wants to sweep but no luck.
Mendez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Ko avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mendez keeping moving, preventing Ko from controlling successfully.
Mendez trying to keep a closed guard but Ko is proving a slippery customer.
Ko trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ko content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Ko throws and elbow that misses. Mendez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ko's guard. Nice move by Mendez!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mendez content to stall in guard here.
Ko wants to stand up but Mendez is controlling him.
Ko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mendez stops Ko from standing up.
Ko strikes from his own guard.
Ko keeping moving, preventing Mendez from controlling successfully.
Ko wants to get back to his feet but Mendez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ko looks gassed!

Mendez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mendez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ko keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ko tries to clinch but Mendez is having none of it.
Ko throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ko has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mendez misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mendez can't break the clinch.
Mendez fails to pull guard.
A short right from Ko on the inside.
Ko throws a punch but it's blocked by Mendez.
Ko throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mendez blocks it with crossed arms.
Mendez is trying to break free.
Ko gets through Mendez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mendez can't break the clinch.
Ko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mendez thows a body shot but no joy.
Ko getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Ko tries a head kick but it misses.
Ko throws a right and a left that Mendez avoids nicely.
Ko misses with a low kick.
Ko connects with a high kick.
Ko stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendez. Mendez gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ko darts in and clinches Mendez up against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Ko.
Ko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ko moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Ko scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Katsu Ko will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Ko doesn't manage to clinch there - Mendez circles away.
Mendez clinches but Ko breaks the clinch
and Ko counters with a head kick.
Mendez is rocked!
It looks like Dan Mendez has been cut.
Ko feints a jab and as Mendez dips his head, Ko unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Mendez right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Mendez falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Ko smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Katsu Ko!
