Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Felipe Cabrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Drnold!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drnold goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Cabrera changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Drnold looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Drnold gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Drnold can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cabrera lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Drnold hang on?
Cabrera misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Drnold tries to reverse the position but Cabrera maintains control.

I really don't envy Drnold right now.

Cabrera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Drnold really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cabrera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Drnold is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cabrera gets his way!

Cabrera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cabrera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Drnold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cabrera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Felipe Cabrera.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cabrera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
