PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Argat Khan (ranked 3042 p4p, 84 weight class) and Lorenzo Turturro (ranked 1026 p4p, 29 weight class). Khan's entrance music is Can't be touched. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Argat Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lorenzo Turturro!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turturro avoids a punch combination nicely.
Turturro throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Khan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lorenzo Turturro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan works over Turturro's head and body with a nice combination.
Turturro uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Khan.
Khan tries a head kick but it misses.
Turturro lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Khan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Turturro throws a hook but Khan avoids it easily.
Khan takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Turturro avoids the body shot from Khan.
Khan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khan closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Lorenzo Turturro has been cut.
Turturro catches Khan with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Khan clinches up against the ropes.
Khan makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Turturro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Khan is looking to clinch but Turturro is avoiding it.
Turturro looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Khan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Khan.
Khan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Khan tries to move into range but Turturro moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Some bone on bone action there as Turturro checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Turturro scores with a jab.
Khan throws a hook but Turturro blocks it.
Turturro tests Khan's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Khan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Khan misses with an uppercut.
Khan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Turturro throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Turturro has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Khan misses with a series of wild punches.
Khan lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Turturro jabs Khan right on the nose. Khan blinks but takes it well.

It looks like Argat Khan has been cut.
Khan dips to his left and cracks Turturro with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Khan defending well as Turturro loads up on a big left hand.
A low kick from Khan is predictable there
and Turturro counters with a right hand to the body.
Turturro ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Khan throws a sloppy head kick and Turturro moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Turturro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Khan went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
A head kick by Khan misses
and Turturro counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Turturro just misses with a punch to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Turturro chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Khan can pounce on him.
Khan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Turturro connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Khan scrambles back to his feet.
Khan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Turturro takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Khan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Turturro throws a jab but it's blocked by Khan.
Turturro is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Khan staying out of range there.
Turturro ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Khan clinches with his opponent.
Khan lands a hook that snaps the head of Turturro backwards.
Turturro gets through Khan's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Turturro misses with a body punch.
Khan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Turturro has him pressed against the ropes.

Khan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Khan throws a right and a left that Turturro avoids nicely.
Turturro scores with a hook to the body. Khan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Khan misses with a low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Argat Khan will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Khan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Turturro fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
Khan throws a switch kick that catches Turturro on the top of the head and drops him to the canvas! Turturro looks hurt - I'm not sure he's going to get back up! The referee starts the count but calls it off at seven as Turturro flops around on the canvas, clearly in no position to continue! This fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Argat Khan!
A less than humble Argat Khan misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
