Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cranky Smith (ranked 2155 p4p, 226 weight class) and Rodrigo Lima (ranked 3634 p4p, 329 weight class). Rodrigo Lima struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith has a takedown stuffed. Lima looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Lima checks a leg kick. Smith shoots in for a takedown but Lima shows good takedown defense. Lima wants to counter the offense by Smith and move into the clinch position. Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lima swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cranky Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lima tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Smith misses with a jab to the body
and Lima counters with a single leg into guard. Smith didn't expect that. Lima avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Smith looking for a guillotine here but Lima defends easily.
Lima tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard. Smith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Smith definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lima doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Smith is tightening it up a little... Lima has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lima reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lima taps out! Nice BJJ there by Smith!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Cranky Smith!
