Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ralo Gracie (ranked 2274 p4p, 285 weight class) and Tanaka Matsuda (ranked 3264 p4p, 381 weight class). Tanaka Matsuda has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ralo Gracie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralo Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tanaka Matsuda!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gracie fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Matsuda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Matsuda is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Matsuda wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.
Matsuda must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Matsuda is proving a slippery customer.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matsuda doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matsuda manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Ralo Gracie will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Let's hope that Matsuda has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tanaka Matsuda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Gracie tries to move into range but Matsuda moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Gracie on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Matsuda bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gracie tries to clinch there but Matsuda circles away.

Matsuda fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gracie to the ground. Matsuda is now in Gracie's guard.

Well Matsuda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
