Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adrian Petrov (ranked 6338 p4p, 480 weight class) and Pierre Bonin (ranked 2735 p4p, 280 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adrian Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre Bonin!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bonin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bonin drives through and clinches with Petrov against the cage.

Bonin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Bonin counters by clinching up.

Bonin breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petrov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bonin as he avoids it easily.
And Bonin tries to counter it with a takedown but Petrov pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adrian Petrov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bonin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Petrov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bonin but Bonin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Petrov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bonin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bonin pushes Petrov away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Petrov gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Petrov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bonin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Petrov sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bonin is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Petrov swings around for an armbar but Bonin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Petrov's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

Bonin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Petrov has his foot on Bonin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bonin works his way back into a safe position though.
Bonin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Petrov is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Petrov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bonin tries to avoid it but Petrov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bonin to the ground. Bonin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Bonin closes the distance and pushes Petrov back into the cage.
Petrov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bonin after a bit of a struggle.

Bonin let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Pierre Bonin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Petrov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Petrov is trying to drag Bonin to the mat but Bonin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bonin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Petrov wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Petrov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bonin is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Petrov is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Bonin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Adrian Petrov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pierre Bonin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bonin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Pierre Bonin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bonin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
