The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asprilla throws the left hand but Shearer avoids the punch easily.
Asprilla shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Shearer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Asprilla misses with a two punch combination.
Shearer swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Asprilla moves in looking to clinch but Shearer pushes him off.
Shearer looks to throw the jab but Asprilla is out of range.
Asprilla cracks a nice hook into Shearer's ribs.
Shearer lands a body shot.
Shearer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Asprilla swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Nice uppercut lands for Shearer. That snapped Asprilla's head back.
Asprilla looks to land a right hand but Shearer moved out of range.
Shearer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Alan Shearer has been cut.

Asprilla gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Asprilla lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Asprilla misses with a body shot.
Shearer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Asprilla counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Shearer throws a series of punches but Asprilla avoids them all with ease.
No joy there for Asprilla, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shearer lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Shearer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

After the fight, Faustino Asprilla was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
