The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordo misses with a head kick.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pawlik has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Pawlik shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Pawlik was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pawlik wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gordo keeps working.
Pawlik is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gordo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Pawlik goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gordo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pawlik but great work by Gordo.

Pawlik is looking for a triangle but Gordo pushes his legs off easily.
