Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erik Friedrichsen (ranked 1308 p4p, 159 weight class) and Expendable Crewman V (ranked 1127 p4p, 138 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Crewman V's choice of entrance music: Star Trek. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Erik Friedrichsen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Expendable Crewman V! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Steve Erwin and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crewman V pushing out the jab but it's not landing. An inside leg kick from Friedrichsen misses. Friedrichsen misses with an uppercut. Crewman V saw that one coming. Crewman V fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Friedrichsen has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Crewman V moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
It looks like Expendable Crewman V has been cut. Friedrichsen scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Crewman V misses with an uppercut. Friedrichsen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Crewman V misses the shot to the body. Crewman V jabs Friedrichsen to the body, keeping him at a distance. Crewman V tries to close the distance and clinch but Friedrichsen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Crewman V misses with a body shot.
Crewman V ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Friedrichsen moves away. A slow jab from Crewman V misses its intended target. Friedrichsen dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Crewman V avoids a low kick by using good footwork. This has been an exciting period of action! Friedrichsen with a jab. Donk. Crewman V catches Friedrichsen right on the button with a cross.
It looks like Erik Friedrichsen has been cut. Crewman V throws the left hand but Friedrichsen avoids the punch easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crewman V throws out a leg kick but Friedrichsen moves out of range and Crewman V only half commits. Friedrichsen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A combination from Friedrichsen does no damage. Crewman V follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. Friedrichsen connects with a body shot. Crewman V throws an overhand right that lands on Friedrichsen's shoulder, as Friedrichsen tries to avoid the shot. Friedrichsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Crewman V manages to avoid it. Friedrichsen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Crewman V doesn't seem bothered though. Friedrichsen looks to land a combination but Crewman V avoids it well. Friedrichsen swings widly with a right hand
and Crewman V counters with a lovely shot to the body. Friedrichsen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Crewman V thumps Friedrichsen with a low kick. Friedrichsen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Friedrichsen throws a series of punches but Crewman V moves out of range. Nice body punch from Friedrichsen. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Crewman V throws a front kick that sends Friedrichsen stumbling back into the cage. Friedrichsen takes a swing at Crewman V's ribcage but misses. Friedrichsen misses with a low kick.
Crewman V wants to counter with a clinch but Friedrichsen pushes him away. Crewman V throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crewman V looks for the body kick but Friedrichsen saw that one coming. Friedrichsen checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Crewman V misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Friedrichsen.
Crewman V rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Friedrichsen moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Friedrichsen connects with a single shot there. Crewman V thumps Friedrichsen with a low kick. Crewman V misses with a double jab
and Friedrichsen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Crewman V tries to clinch there but Friedrichsen circles away.
Crewman V takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Friedrichsen moves out of range as Crewman V strikes. Crewman V throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Friedrichsen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Crewman V works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Crewman V misses the jab. We've been told by Friedrichsen's head coaches at Mello MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Jab, jab by Crewman V - just one landing. Friedrichsen cracks Crewman V with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Friedrichsen has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Crewman V to stand back up!
Crewman V is rocked!
That has opened up Expendable Crewman V's cut even more.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Friedrichsen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Crewman V. That did some damage! Crewman V is still on wobbly legs! Can Friedrichsen finish him? Crewman V leaves his chin hanging out and Friedrichsen seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Crewman V crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Erik Friedrichsen! A relieved looking Erik Friedrichsen thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
