Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel De Souza (ranked 24323 p4p, 590 weight class) and TJ Tate (ranked 24676 p4p, 579 weight class). Tate comes into a darkened arena with his song building. shotta flow kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! TJ Tate will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel De Souza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, TJ Tate! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Souza keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tate. The fight stays on the outside here - De Souza looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Tate throws a shot from downtown. De Souza moves away and avoids it. De Souza appears to be looking for a big counter. De Souza swinging wildly here.
Tate misses with a kick to the body and De Souza counters with a nice double leg into guard. Tate has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes De Souza off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. De Souza tries for a takedown but Tate sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tate looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. De Souza moves in looking to clinch but Tate pushes him off. De Souza lands a lovely overhand right. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tate throws a push kick but De Souza slaps the foot to one side. De Souza scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. De Souza has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tate takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A left lands for De Souza. Tate throws a wild body kick that De Souza sees coming a mile off. De Souza tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Tate is trying to counter with his kicks. Tate throws a shot to the body.
Tate throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Tate dodges the punch combination from De Souza.
De Souza moves out of range as Tate strikes. De Souza drops Tate with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Tate looks back up at him and smiles so De Souza waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! De Souza throws a hook but Tate blocks it. De Souza tries to clinch there but Tate circles away.
Oooooh!!! De Souza has knocked Tate down with a huge combo! De Souza steps away and waves a wobbly Tate back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Tate is rocked! A decent looking body kick lands there for Tate. Tate is still on wobbly legs! Can De Souza finish him? De Souza is breathing heavily. Tate wants to slow De Souza down by chopping away at his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tate walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. De Souza checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Tate seems to have recovered his senses. A looping hook to the body misses from Tate. De Souza does a little dance to reset his feet. De Souza shoots and misses and Tate counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel De Souza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tate scores with a hook to the body. De Souza takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Tate takes a swing at De Souza's ribcage but misses. De Souza seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. De Souza on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. A clash of legs there as De Souza blocks the low kick. De Souza fails in his attempt to clinch. Tate scores with a jab.
It looks like Gabriel De Souza has been cut. De Souza avoids the body shot from Tate.

Tate is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down De Souza rather than just go for the knockout. Tate closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into De Souza's guard. Tate connects with a couple of short punches. De Souza can't keep his opponent in guard - Tate advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Tate winds up and cracks De Souza with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Tate seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
We've been informed that Tate has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Tate controlling the action here. De Souza taking some punishment here, with Tate in his half guard. Tate lands strikes from half guard. Tate working De Souza over with strikes. De Souza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. De Souza has hold of Tate's hands but Tate slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Tate looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Tate takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Tate sitting and controlling from the half guard. Tate scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Tate lands with a punch from half guard. Tate wants to stand up but De Souza is controlling the position.
Tate working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tate seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tate scoring with strikes to the body and head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tate frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Tate controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Tate dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gabriel De Souza's cut. That's time! De Souza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Tate swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. De Souza appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Tate has been the more effective fighter overall so far. De Souza steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tate. Tate looks to score with a jab to the body but De Souza is just out of range. Tate misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tate throws a body kick, spinning off balance and De Souza counters with a nice uppercut. De Souza bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. De Souza lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Tate drops his hands momentarily and De Souza takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Tate looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Tate throws a leg kick but De Souza moved away. Tate throws a leg kick but De Souza checks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A cross from De Souza lands. Tate takes a swing at De Souza's ribcage but misses. De Souza feinted with a counter takedown. Tate throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tate forces De Souza back against the cage and clinches. De Souza working hard to break the clinch. De Souza working hard to break the clinch. Tate breaks from the clinch.

Tate looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Tate does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. De Souza closes the distance and clinches up with Tate, looking for a takedown. De Souza pushes Tate against the cage but Tate circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Tate looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. De Souza shoots in for a double leg but Tate sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tate tests De Souza's chin there with a solid looking shot. De Souza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tate moves away. Tate throws a right and a left that De Souza avoids nicely. Tate throws the kick towards the body but De Souza avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tate throws the left hand but De Souza avoids the punch easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from De Souza. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel De Souza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tate jabs De Souza to the body, keeping him at a distance. De Souza moves out of range of the body kick from Tate.
De Souza is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Tate. Tate throws a leg kick but De Souza sees it coming and moves out of range. Tate thuds a left hand into De Souza's body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd cheers as Tate lands an impressive looking overhand right. De Souza doesn't seem phased though. Tate throws a low kick but De Souza avoids it. No joy there for Tate, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jab, jab by Tate - just one landing. TJ Tate seems to be getting the better of the standup. A big left from Tate misses. De Souza uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tate.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tate feints a jab promting De Souza to slip. Tate then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. De Souza slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Tate closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming De Souza to the mat! De Souza manages to get full guard. Tate sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed De Souza's guard. De Souza won't allow Tate to pass to mount. Tate working over De Souza with some ground and pound. De Souza looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Tate takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Tate is looking for a kimura but De Souza is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tate to get the leverage. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tate lands a nice short elbow. Tate winds up and cracks De Souza with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Tate seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De Souza does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Tate perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Tate is nestled in close to De Souza, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tate lands a nice short elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tate performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Tate looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks De Souza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Tate takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. De Souza wants to control but Tate is keeping busy and won't allow it. Still in half guard, Tate seems content to control. Tate seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tate connects with a nice short shot to De Souza's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Tate showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Gabriel De Souza's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Tate gets a clinch. Tate breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Tate fakes high and swings low for a body shot but De Souza manages to avoid it. A left lands for Tate. De Souza uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tate. De Souza drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tate sprawls and moves away. De Souza tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Tate swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Tate swings and misses with a shot to the body and De Souza counters with a series of strikes. Tate will be more careful next time no doubt. De Souza lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Nice sprawl there from De Souza as Tate shoots in. De Souza avoids the head kick by Tate.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tate looking to pass the guard. De Souza keeping moving, preventing Tate from controlling successfully. Tate sitting in guard, not really doing much. Tate trying to control but De Souza is working from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tate's corner. There ya go! There ya go! TJ Tate has got the better of the ground game so far. De Souza has momentary wrist control but Tate slips an elbow through the middle. Tate got a little sloppy there for a moment and De Souza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tate has managed to get both his arms back between De Souza's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Tate content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Tate showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Tate slips nicely into half guard. Tate looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks De Souza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Tate with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Tate is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. TJ Tate is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Souza on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Tate not doing much here.
Let's hope that Tate has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Tate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. De Souza taking some punishment here, with Tate in his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Tate is taking a breather. De Souza says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Tate jabs De Souza to the body, keeping him at a distance. Tate lands a nice looking body shot.
Tate uses good head movement to avoid the hook from De Souza. De Souza takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. De Souza blocks a leg kick. Tate swings for the body but De Souza moves out of range.
Gabriel De Souza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! De Souza on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
And that's the end of the fight! TJ Tate comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Tate has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
